Room 20 Classroom Notes January 13-17

Good Week!
This week, we will be comparing the average temperatures with our sister city, Sapporo, Japan and Portland and graph our findings. We will also continue with our explorers essay. We were assigned explorers and will be researching and writing up our findings. I also want to stress how important citing sources is while we amass all of our new information. In Math, we will have our unit 3 test on Friday, which will cover most of the geometry we have been working on. In reading, we will work with vocabulary and read a story as a class titled, "The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins," and then move into reading groups for the remaining three days of the week. In Social Studies, students are synthesizing what they are reading in our textbook by writing response paragraphs based on the information. This will ultimately turn into a sizable essay after several reading sessions. Remember, if you did not receive math or spelling, you can always do it online via spelling city or IXL. Just send me an email and I can tell you what your child needs to work on. Math homework will be due next day, while our weekly essay and spelling will be due Friday. I hope you have a great week!
